WHEN POLICE COME TO YOUR HOME ...

If the Police knock at your door you do not have to let them in, UNLESS they show you a warrant signed by Judge and Police ID.

You should carefully check the warrant to make sure the police have the right address. If it is an arrest warrant, check to make sure they have the right person. If all paperwork is good, you must let police into your home.

In a case of a no-knock warrant, police do not have to advise entering your home. In this instance, do as the police advise you.

• If the Police do not have a warrant at all, you do not have to let them in. However, if you do allow them in ask for the following:

1. Police ID, Badge #

2. Purpose

Be very clear to officers if you do not consent to a search of your home.
